The NAMM Show 2022- Neotech Recap

In addition to meeting some of our dealers and distributors, we also had the wonderful opportunity to meet some of our Neotech ambassadors including, Ukulenny (Lenny San Jose), Ikechi Onyenaka, and Phillip Morin. We had the pleasure of sharing a meal with them and to hear them beautifully play their instruments in our Neotech booth. Throughout the course of the show, these three insanely talented musicians would come by to play their music for us, causing quite a stir with surrounding NAMM attendees and exhibitors who were in complete awe. Sometimes, we coordinated and had the blessing of hearing them play together. It was one of our NAMM highlights for sure!

Get Lost In The Twilight Of Jazz Fusionist Ikechi Onyenaka’s Latest Single, City Dreams - A&R Factory

Jazz and Blues fusionist Ikechi Onyenaka’s latest extended instrumental soundscape, City Dreams, eases you into the twilight grooves gently before the rhythms pick up funk around the smoky jazz timbre. With the next progression, City Dreams moves towards a stormy sax blues riff that rivals the jazz-punk frontman Pete Wareham’s pipes.

City Dreams: An Interview with Ikechi Onyenaka - Neotech Straps

There is nothing like starting a Friday morning with a cup of coffee cooling in your hand, awaiting the world premiere of Ikechi Onyenaka’s music video for his brand new single, City Dreams. Interview: Ikechi Onyenaka – 808s & Jazz Breaks

Ikechi Onyenaka is a young voice in the Philadelphia music scene. A multi-instrumentalist, Ikechi is steeped in the tradition of Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, and more broadly a lineage of Black music. Born in the late-90s, Ikechi is a child of modern technology and the internet, as such, you’re as likely to catch him at any of Philadelphia’s jazz venues, as you are to catch him on his YouTube page. As a YouTuber, Ikechi has built a following of over 1,400 subscribers, posting his original music, cover videos and saxophone tutorials of everything from Lil Nas X’s Panini to Grover Washington Jr.’s Winelight.

On Tuesday, October 22nd, Ikechi will be playing a 3-hour set with his band at Chris’ Jazz Cafe in Center City, Philadelphia, for which I’ve had the privilege of learning Ikechi’s original music for the past month, and will be playing along side him (SO PULL UP — buy tickets here). In preparation for his show I talked to him about his original music, creating his own platform and digital presence via the internet, his influences, and more! Here’s our conversation:

Altoona student's love of music is heard throughout campus

ALTOONA, Pa. — Maybe you’ve seen him playing his saxophone around the pond on campus or at various student events. Maybe you’ve heard the sounds of his music floating throughout Misciagna or Cedar Residence Hall. Perhaps you were visiting campus and wondered who was making the melodies.

Some have dubbed the man behind the music the "Sax Guy," but his name is actually Ikechi Onyenaka, a sophomore from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. He came to Penn State Altoona to pursue a degree in information sciences technology, but music is his true passion.
